When my youngest son got invited to a little girl’s birthday party, I knew just what I wanted to make her! Homemade dolls are so cute and this homemade fabric doll turned out darling. We were so excited to take her to the birthday party! We couldn’t get enough of her though beforehand and had fun taking pictures of her around our house. She even got to sit on my daughter’s bed for a minute before she had to be packed up for the birthday party.
I found this fabric doll pattern from Make it – Love it some time ago. I’ve used the pattern when I made our Beardy the Leprechaun and the two Frozen dolls and I love it. It’s amazing all the fun and different ideas that can come from one pattern! I followed the directions from the tutorial almost exactly and only changed a couple of things on mine.
Instead of fabric eyes and an embroidered mouth, I chose to just paint on both. First, I drew the eyes and mouth with a pencil so I could get it just right and then I went over the pencil with regular black acrylic paint.
For the hair, I decided to make little pigtails. I even made a pattern for you, if you ever wanted to make a cute fabric doll with pigtails! Just click on the link below.
I cut two pieces of fabric for each pigtail, put them together, and sewed around the pigtail and then added them onto the doll (when the tutorial told me to, of course!). They’re sweet!
And that skirt. It is so cute and definitely made the doll. I debated whether or not I wanted to make a skirt, but in the end decided she needed one. I’m so glad I took the time to make one because it is just the most darling thing.
Didn’t she turn out great! I think she’s pretty cute!
Thanks for stopping by today and have a great day!
