Turkey Meatball Subs

Turkey Meatball Subs at DoingSplendid.com Our family loves these Turkey Meatball Subs! They are absolutely delicious! We love to eat them with these homemade oven baked fries and a nice green salad or fresh fruit. I’m getting hungry just thinking about this dinner. I think it must be almost lunch time!

Whenever I think about making meatballs, I think its going to take too much time, but this recipe is really quite fast and the result…well, you understand how I feel about these turkey meatball subs already…they are worth it! Sometimes we even have leftover meatballs, so I make spaghetti and meatballs using this homemade spaghetti sauce mix. It is delicious too!

Recipe adapted from Family Circle

  • 1 1/3 lb. ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3/4 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
  • 6 sub rolls
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 12 slices provolone cheese

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix together the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, eggs, Parmesan cheese, garlic salt, and Italian seasoning until combined. Form into about 1 inch meatballs and place on greased, rimmed baking sheet. Bake for 30 minutes turning the meatballs after 15 minutes. While meatballs are cooking cut a slit in the top of your sub rolls are scoop out a little of the bread, set aside. When the meatballs are finished remove from oven and turn on the broiler.

Put meatballs into the slit you cut in your sub rolls. I usually can fit about 4 or 5 meatballs. Top with a couple of tablespoons of marinara sauce and a couple slices of provolone cheese. Broil in the oven for a couple of minutes until the cheese is melted. Watch it carefully so it doesn’t burn.

Enjoy with those oven baked fries and a nice salad. Doesn’t that sound delicious?! In fact, I think I’ll go add these ingredients to my grocery list right now!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

I’m afraid I’m a cheater and use frozen meatballs. Your recipe sounds really good though and easy to make. Now I’m in the mood for a meatball sandwich! Thanks for sharing with us at Merry Monday.
