Cinnamon Scones

Cinnamon Scones at I had never made real scones before I tried this recipe and these cinnamon scones did not disappoint. These scones really are not very difficult to make, and the flaky layers are just so delicious.  It is is great breakfast recipe for impressing family members and friends, and these scones cinnamon scones always seems to get rave reviews!

Whenever I make this recipe for my husband and children, they all seem to get so happy and eat so much! This is definitely a recipe that I will continue to make for my family for years to come! 🙂

Cinnamon Scones at Cinnamon Scones

Scone Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 egg, separated
  • 3 Tbsp. honey
  • 1/3 cup milk mixed with 1/2 tsp. lemon juice (or buttermilk if you have it on hand)

Topping Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Icing Ingredients:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 4 tsp. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla


Preheat oven to 400 degrees and grease baking sheet. Mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut in butter until combined. In a separate bowl, mix together egg yolk (set egg white aside), honey, and milk mixed with lemon juice (or buttermilk). Mix liquids with dry ingredients and mix until combined. Form into a ball and then press into an 8 inch circle on baking sheet.

Beat egg white until frothy and brush over top. Combine topping ingredients and then sprinkle on top. Cut the 8 inch circle into 8 wedges. Bake for 10-12 minutes.

Mix together icing ingredients and then drizzle on warm scones. Eat warm or cold. They are delicious either way! Enjoy!
