My kids loved helping me make these and thought it was great fun to choose what type of sprinkles we should use. And then they loved to help me eat them! I think we ate way too many!

Cake truffles do have a few steps, but I did a little bit of it throughout the day and before dinner time, we already had dessert prepared. Don’t get me wrong though, we didn’t wait to eat them. We ate them before dinner. 🙂

  • 1 box strawberry cake mix
  • ingredients to make the cake (found on box)
  • 3/4 cup frosting (homemade or store bought) I used this recipe.
  • 1 bag white chocolate chips
  • 1 bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • sprinkles (I could say optional here, but really sprinkles are fun!)

Prepare cake mix and bake in 9×13 pan as directed on box. After the cake has cooled, break it up in a large bowl until it is all in crumbs. (Sometimes its hard to crumble up a perfectly good cake, but just remember it is for the best! 🙂 ) Add in frosting and mix together well. Form mixture into 1 inch balls and place on a pan lined with wax paper and freeze for a few hours.

After the cake truffles are frozen, melt the white chocolate chips and the semi-sweet chocolate chips in the microwave in 30 second increments (separately of course, unless you want to try them mixed. That might taste really good.) Dip each cake truffle into melted chocolate (half in the white chocolate and half in the semi-sweet chocolate), place on pan lined with wax paper and sprinkle with sprinkles immediately. Let them harden and you’re all finished!
