Sight Word Rubbings

Sight Word Rubbings at DoingSplendid.comI made this sight word rubbings activity for my son to help get him ready for kindergarten. He loves to practice sight words when we do this. It makes learning just a little more fun! I found the activity here. It is such a great idea that I had to share it with you too!

I made the cards by cutting rectangles out of cardstock (affiliate link) and then used a hot glue gun (affiliate link) to write the words. The activity itself is pretty self-explanatory too. Just put a piece of paper on top of the sight word rubbing card and color with a crayon. We usually fit in as many word cards on one piece of paper that we can. When they are finished with that you could have them write the word too. So many ways to learn!

I think this would also be a great activity to learn letters, numbers, or for a child learning to write their name. It is great fun!

Several years ago, I had thought about using hot glue to have the children work on their letters as I am a big believer in hands on learning. However, I never found the time to do so. And I wasn’t sure if it would really work. It’s wonderful to see that this will work and I have got to try it with the children.
I would love if you could also share this post on my Littles Learning Link Up.
    Have a great day

That’s a great idea, my girls would enjoy that and I think it would really help with their learning of sight words.

Don’t have a glue gun, would tacky glue work?
