ABC Bean Bags

ABC Bean Bags at DoingSplendid.comMy kids love to play with these ABC Bean Bags! They are a fun way for them to learn their letters. We like to pull them out of their container and try to put all the letters in order or name the letters as we throw them into a basket. We use them to practice letter sounds, spelling simple words, and, honestly, just throwing them around or into things. Its a fun, versatile game for the kids!

They are kind of time consuming to make, since there are so many letters, but if you have lots of fabric scraps that you would like to use up, this is a fabulous project!

ABC Bean Bags at DoingSplendid.comTo make our ABC bean bags, I first printed out all the letters of the alphabet from the computer. I used a nice, thick font, so it would be easy to cut out. Then I cut out the letters from the paper.

Then, I attached heat n bond to my fabric, and then traced my letters onto that and cut out all the letters again. (I told you it took a long time! šŸ™‚ ) When you’re tracing the letters onto the heat n bond, make sure that your letters are backwards, so when you cut them out, they will be showing the right way (I hope that makes sense).

After all the letters are cut out of the fabrics of your choice, cut out squares or rectangles for the actual bean bag part. Just make them whatever size you want here. Mine are definitely not perfect and my kids could care less.

Iron on the letters (according the directions of the heat n bond) and zig zag stitch around the letters to secure them to the fabric. Then put your bean bag pieces right side together and sew around the edges leaving a small opening. Turn right side out, fill with rice or beans, and close up the opening in the bean bag. And that’s it! Now repeat 25 more times! It really is worth it!

Here is our collection of ABC Bean Bags! I love all the colors!ABC Bean Bags at DoingSplendid.comHave a great day!
