I made this cute headband for my daughter and thought it would be nice to make a yo yo headband tutorial to go with it. Just in case there is anyone else out there who would like to make one too!
It is pretty simple and easy and really doesn’t take very much time at all. You don’t even need a sewing machine! Sometimes it is nice not to have to lug that heavy thing out for a project!
This is what you need:
- scraps of fabric
- needle and thread
- scraps of felt
- elastic headband
- hot glue gun/hot glue sticks
First of all cut out a circle of fabric. Mine was about 4 inches in diameter.
Then sew a simple running stitch around the outside of the circle.
Then pull it tight and it should look like the picture below.
Then push your needle through the middle a couple of times to secure it.
Then you can sew your button on (or just hot glue it). Whatever you feel like doing! When you are finished it will look like this. Now repeat the above steps for however many your heart desires for your headband.
Here are the 3 yo yo that I made. Arrange them on a scrap of felt (in any design that you think is lovely) and then hot glue them down.
Cut the excess felt from around the yo yo arrangement.
Now grab your elastic headband, yo yo arrangement….And a little scrap of felt!
Hot glue the elastic headband to the yo yo arrangement.
And then hot glue the scrap of felt on top of that.
And you’re all finished! That was pretty fun and easy, right?!
I think it looks fabulous on my daughter!
Have a great day!
