Kid’s Magnetic Chore Chart

Kid's Magnetic Chore Chart at DoingSplendid.com

My kids helped me put together this magnetic chore chart for our home. We believe that every person in our family has an important contribution to make, and this is a great reminder of things that need to get accomplished!

This is a super simple project. I have seen so many cute and lovely magnetic chore charts, and maybe someday we will make something a little more cute, but we needed something that wouldn’t cost a lot of money or put too many holes in this lovely rental town-home’s walls. So, we decided to use the refrigerator!

Like I said, my kids helped me with this project from start until finish. We brainstormed the jobs that needed to be done. Typed them up and used a circle punch to cut them out. They helped me paint the little wooden disks and Mod Podge the jobs onto them. I can’t remember where we bought the wooden disks from, but I’m sure that any craft store would have them. Then we glued the magnets onto the back.

Instead of writing out their names (so they would know which jobs they needed to do), we just used these cute baby picture magnets that I have made for each of my children’s first birthday! They’re cute, right?! I wrote the “To Do” and “Done” signs (obviously, right?) and then we put the magnets up on the fridge. The jobs are changed each day and when they are finished they get to move the magnet to the done side of the refrigerator! All the extra job magnets are stored on the far right of the fridge.

This isn’t a fancy project at all, but it gets the job done. And since the kids helped me with the whole project, they are much more excited to use it! That makes everyone happy (especially me)!

Have a great day!

What a great idea! My 7 year old helps out but we don’t have specific chores for her to earn her allowance. This would be a terrific way for her to be held accountable (and she would love the magnet “chart”)!
