Mom School: Penguin Preschool

Mom School: Penguin Preschool at A couple of months ago for our preschool co-op, I got to teach the letter P, so we had penguin preschool! We had a lot of fun learning about the letter P and penguins.

One of the things that we did was read this sweet story, Penguin and Pinecone (affiliate link) by Salina Yoon. It is about a little Penguin who became friends with a pinecone and how their friendship grows over time. The kids really loved it and so did I! It really is a cute story!

Then we made these paper plate penguins. You make them by folding in the sides of a paper plate and then folding the top part down and then stapling it, so it will stay. Then I let the kids color their penguin and add eyes and feet. You could also let them paint their penguin. I’m sure any preschool child would love that! My son made the penguin in the back. I thought it was pretty creative how he wanted to add a head and a scarf, just like the little penguin in the story. He keeps asking if we can make a scarf for the pinecone too, like in the story. I guess we’ll have to do that soon!

I love how even when the kids are given the same supplies to work with, they always come up with such different ideas! It’s so fun to watch their creativity in action!
