Tacos are one of my very favorite weeknight dinners! This homemade taco seasoning mix makes taco night even better! Honestly, I try to make tacos at least twice a month. Good thing all the other members of the family like tacos too!
Growing up, my family didn’t ever use taco seasoning when we had tacos, but my husband loves it. So when we got married, I started buying the little packets of taco seasoning. I really was a very inexperienced cook when we first got married and didn’t even think about making my own taco seasoning. A couple of years ago, I found this recipe and have never looked back.
It is so tasty and makes the best tacos. We all really like it and definitely don’t miss the store bought seasoning packets!
Homemade Taco Seasoning
adapted slightly from here
- 4 Tbsp. chili powder
- 2 Tbsp. cumin
- 2 Tbsp. paprika
- 2 Tbsp. dried oregano
- 1 Tbsp. onion powder
- 1 Tbsp. garlic powder
- 2 tsp. kosher salt
- 1 tsp. black pepper
Mix together and store in airtight container (I just use an old spice bottle). To use in tacos, add 3 Tablespoons of mix and 1/2 cup water to 1 pound cooked, ground beef.
Try it! It makes the best tacos ever! I’m sure it would be great with other types of meat too, but we’ve only tried it with ground beef. Let me know if you try it and like it.
Have a great day and thanks for visiting!
