Homemade Caramel Popcorn

Yum

After I told my husband what I wanted to post on the blog today, he reminded me that I have been sharing a whole lot of popcorn recipes lately. What can I say? I just love popcorn! And this recipe for Homemade Caramel Popcorn has been one of my favorites since I was a little girl. My mom and grandma both made this recipe for special occasions, so thankfully, I got to eat it often!

For the last few years we have been making it for a special New Year’s Eve treat, but I love it so much, I want to make it all of the time! Now I’m sure that you do too, so here it is! (The full recipe is written out completely below.)

First thing you need to do is pop your 1 cup of popcorn kernels. My daughter got this Orville Redenbacher popcorn maker (affiliate link) for Christmas and it has been wonderful! We have been using it all the time!

Then put all the popcorn into a large bowl and set aside.

Caramel Popcorn

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup un-popped popcorn kernels
  • 1 stick of butter (or 8 Tbsp.)
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup Karo syrup
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk

First, pop your popcorn using the method of your choice, put into a large bowl and set aside. Stir the butter, brown sugar, Karo syrup, and sweetened condensed milk together in a medium sized saucepan. Heat over medium heat until boiling. Boil for 2 minutes. Pour over popped popcorn and mix well.

It really is too tasty to resist!

Have a great day!

I’m not familiar with a “cube” of butter. Could you clarify this?

Sorry about that! I’ve changed the post now. It should say a stick of butter (or 8 Tbsp.). Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
