Organizing Kids: School Files

Organizing Kids: School Files at DoingSplendid.com We all know that when kids go to school, they come back with a lot of projects! Most of them are super cute and, honestly, I wish that I could keep them all, but that would create quite the paper stash! These School Files are our answer to our school project organization problems!

I saw an idea similar to this years ago and a couple of years ago, we started the files for ourselves. We just used the simple, filing boxes that you can get at any store that sells office supplies. We got ours from Walmart.

We got some hanging files for each kid and typed up labels for the tabs. We made enough folders for all the grades plus preschool and one folder for artwork before they attend school.

We put any projects from school that we love in it, but they have to be able to fit. That’s our only rule. If there is something too big to fit, we will take a picture of it and slip that inside the folder. We also add in anything they make at home that we want to keep. Or sweet notes to them from their siblings. That kind of stuff needs to be saved!

To store our school files, we just stack them up in the corner of one of our closets. Or they could easily fit on shelves in each kid’s room.

I love simple, easy organization projects like this!

I use file folders in a crate and box for my own organization, but I never thought of using it to organize the children’s work. We homeschool, and I have been trying to think of a way to get everything organized as we now have to start reporting to the school district as my daughter is 8 years old.
This would fit perfectly with my Littles Learning Link Up. It is a weekly post filled with craft and activity ideas, tips, guest posts, and round ups all revolving around young children (infant through young elementary). I invite you to stop by and share.

great idea for organizing files..I may switch to this instead of an accordion file for each grade. I love and use the picture idea too!!! saves major space. Stopping by from #FuntasticFriday
